The Rhythm of Studio Life Behind the Scenes
There is always something going on here in our photography studio life. Whether it’s a portrait shoot in full swing, a photography workshop with a group of keen creatives, a client consultation photography session (where we sit down and really get to know what someone’s after), or just us lot all laughing and drinking coffee whilst we sign frames, cards and quality check albums. I am genuinely not sure Michelle is ever happier than when she’s finished wrapping a whole heap of our finished wall art ready to head out to our clients – there’s something satisfying about seeing a project come full circle, from the initial shoot right through to that final, beautiful package arriving on someone’s doorstep.
What Happens During a Photography Shoot Day
The studio hums with this constant energy. On any given week, you might find us prepping lighting rigs for a shoot scheduled for the following day, or gathered around a laptop reviewing contact sheets from a session that wrapped just hours earlier. There’s the quiet focus of our team working through the technical side of things – colour grading, retouching, print preparation – alongside the louder moments when someone cracks a joke or we’re all crowded around someone’s desk looking at a particular image and genuinely excited about how it’s turned out. It’s this mix that defines what happens during a photography shoot day, both in front of and behind the camera.
The Craft Beyond the Camera
It’s that blend of the practical and the human that makes this place tick. The shoots themselves are only part of the story. What happens before (the client consultation photography session where we listen carefully to what someone needs, the planning, the preparation) and what happens after (the editing, the printing, the wrapping, the delivery) – that’s where the real craft lives. And it’s where our photography studio team culture comes through most clearly. Every person here brings something different, and that shows in everything we do.
