Freezing Frames: Frosty Family Photography (With Their Frenchie Too!)

It was one of those sharp winter days that makes your cheeks sting, but the colours are too good to miss!

A framed portrait of a dog perched elegantly on a chair is displayed on a soft gray wall, accompanied by a glass-fronted cabinet showcasing an array of bottles and sparkling glassware.

Perfect for a family shoot like this.

I’ve known James since he was a teenager living next door. Now here he is, all grown up with a family of his own – and what a family (I photographed James and Elaine’s wedding too!)

The two kids are amazing: Georgia has this incredible ability to connect with the camera, switching from enigmatic (aka serious) to bursts of laughter in a heartbeat while her brother toby, is gentle and easy going – the kind of kid who quietly watches the world, taking it all in.

Basically, the exact opposite of me!

We stepped in and out of the studio trying to stay warm, but making the most of the wintery light in the garden. Denim jackets, fallen leaves, and those deep brick walls – it all just worked.

And then there’s Betty, the family’s French Bulldog, keeping an eye on everything with that classic, slightly suspicious look that only a Frenchie can pull off.

A beautifully framed family portrait featuring two adults and two children, proudly displayed above a glass display cabinet on a soft gray wall. Gentle natural light filters through the space, creating subtle reflections on both the glass and wall, adding warmth and depth to the scene. Photographed by Paul Wilkinson Photography.

A finished frame will make a stunning centrepiece for their home – a perfect snapshot of a cold but beautifully warm day spent together as a family. It makes me smile every time I look at it.

PS. I think Betty would look great in a frame too!

Here are just a few of our favourites (there are too many to mention!):
