I have to admit, I am really excited to be running our photography workshops over the coming months. Over the years, we’ve always run one-on-one masterclass days but it’s only this year, thanks to demand, that we made the decision to run regular workshops here at our studio. Each workshop has its own topic and is for a strictly limited group of attendees so we have plenty of time to chat and answer questions.
The first of these, Mastering Studio Lighting, is happening next week and so I asked Lizzie and Katie to pop round to help create some images we can use for future promotions as well as to check timings for the day. Call me old fashioned if you like, but I like to be well prepared!
This studio-lighting workshop isn’t going to be a list of lighting patterns – that would be easy to do but doesn’t really help when it comes to an understanding of how to apply studio light. Instead, the day will be about having the confidence to try different ideas, seeing the effects that different lights, modifiers and reflectors have on the finished image.
So at breakneck speed, Lizzie, Katie and I, ran through a range of ideas, double-checking everything is ready (and discovering one or two things that need to be looked into – including making sure we have a full shelf of Nespresso pods!)
A whole day playing with studio light? Well, I have to admit that I’m as excited about that as anyone! Cannot wait!
