Libby, Actor Headshots

This year has been a challenging one, yet if I’m honest, it’s also been a year I’ve enjoyed enormously. We’ve had some incredible clients, we’ve created so many images I love – and more importantly, images our clients have loved too – and we’ve had the time to breathe and work on simple pleasures like building shelves, sorting out wiring, and getting on top of our websites. Of course, I’d rather not have the time to do all those things, but it’s been fun! Libby came to us asking for professional actor headshots for her actors portfolio, and who am I to refuse? At the same time, we filmed the shoot to create a video for Skillshare and our own Mastering Portrait Photography platform. Two birds, one stone.

Libby is simply beautiful – there’s no ignoring that fact. And she’s lovely too. Smart. Funny. Lovely. We have a long list of clients like this, and there are many things about our portrait business I’m incredibly proud of, but at the top of that list is the fact I love our clients – people just like Libby and her family.

The brief was straightforward: create a range of images for her actor portrait session, moving from the more formal to the informal, from studio to outdoors. Well, that’s our bread and butter – creating a wide variety of images during a professional actor headshots session. I think we fulfilled the brief. And at the same time, had an absolute ball in the process.

What I love about headshot photography for performers is that it’s not just about technical skill – it’s about understanding what makes someone feel confident in front of the camera. With natural light actor headshots, you’re working with what the day gives you, and there’s a real art to making that work beautifully. Whether we’re shooting in our studio or outdoors, the goal is always the same: capture images that feel authentic and that casting directors will genuinely connect with.

Working with a headshot photographer in Buckinghamshire who understands the needs of performers means understanding that every actor’s portfolio needs to feel distinctive. Libby’s session gave us the chance to explore different moods and looks, different lighting approaches, different backdrops – all of which matter when you’re building a portfolio that’s going to stand out.

Enjoy some images from the shoot.
