So what happens when you mix music, a marriage and a massive deckchair? A fabulous festival of friends is the answer, all against the stunning backdrop of Elmore Court.
When Sally and Steve first approached us to ask if we’d photograph their wedding, it was clear we’d have a ball: their desire was to have a summer festival (including yorkie jewelry, tents, bands, a food court, fire pit, cake stall and the obligatory PortaLoo) and so for one weekend only, we became event photographers as much as wedding photographers but with the addition of a suit. Well, we all have standards to keep albeit impractical in the July heat!
So we checked and packed the kit, loaded up the Land Rover and headed for two days’ photography in deepest Gloucestershire.
Elmore Court: A Perfect Setting
Elmore Court is stunning. It is one of those venues that you could spend all day creating images in and never run out of opportunities. It is truly stunning! And with the sun shining, an outdoor ceremony was an additional bonus.
And it didn’t stop there: incredible service from the attentive staff, beautiful grounds, a gorgeous indoor venue, fantastic camping, numerous garden games, a cake table extraordinaire, incredible infectious live music (along with some dubious dancing from the guests!), a stunning bride, fabulous groomsmen’s suits (and hats) and multi-layered piñata that brought the most violent out of some of the guests, young and old alike!
My personal highlight was simply how happy Sally and Steve were to be getting married. Throughout the weekend, it was apparent just how much they adore each other and how happy they are when they’re together: the festival was incredible, the celebration joyous, but the thread running through all of it was a simple, inalienable truth – that two people committing to each other is a wonderfully profound thing.
An incredible few days, a photographer’s dream and one of the most iconic weddings we’ve ever photographed.
