Penny & Jon’s Small (And Stunning) Le Manoir Wedding

Some weddings are small, some are big: all are unique and emotional. Penny and Jon’s wedding at Le Manoir Aux Quat’Saisons was a wonderful blend of intimacy and laughter.

A Long Drive Home

I’ve just arrived home having had a long drive back down from Scotland with my wife, Sarah. A long drive because of the 450 miles – not because it was with my wife I should add! We’ve been up photographing the most beautiful wedding, but I’ll be honest, eight hours in a Land Rover Defender – much as I love that car – does take it out of you. We’ve photographed some of my all-time favourite weddings this year, many of them at Le Manoir or the Crazy Bear, but a fair few further afield too (though, thankfully, not too many involving entire days sitting in the Land Rover!).

Small Wedding Photography at Le Manoir Aux Quat’Saisons

Penny and Jon’s wedding at Le Manoir was perfect: a small and intimate affair with just their closest friends and family around them to help celebrate. I think a wedding at Le Manoir is pretty much perfect, particularly if it’s a small and intimate celebration like this one – though it does the large, exclusive events exceptionally well too. The venue’s range of small, licensed rooms means you can tie the knot in exactly the right space, and the team there makes sure every detail – and I do mean every detail – is taken care of.

Penny looked gorgeous. Her smile just radiated through the day. Brides are always beautiful, of course, but there really was something quite magical about Penny and her infectious joy at marrying Jon. A little hair and makeup magic from our lovely friend Claire at Mach Management didn’t go amiss, either. This intimate celebration took place in one of my favourite rooms at the venue: Blanc De Blanc, a splendidly confident room in every shade you can imagine – as long as every shade you’re imagining is white! With simply stunning flowers from the gorgeous Fabulous Flowers team, the floral details were always going to look incredible. With such a small wedding, it’s lovely to spend so much time with everyone, and we made the most of it – from the getting-ready to the going-home and a whole lot in between.

Drama in the Sky

The weather wasn’t exactly kind – anything but – but at least the multiple deluges happened while we were all safely indoors. Thankfully, it did little to dampen things (forgive the pun), and it also had the very happy result of creating incredible light and drama in the sky. We even had a glorious rainbow under which to photograph Penny and Jon, though I had to check with Bradley and the team in the kitchen that I wasn’t going to screw up the timings if I dragged the couple away from their dinner! Simply perfect.

An Amazing Team

Weddings are wonderful for bringing people together. It was a privilege to be part of this world-class team supporting Penny and Jon’s intimate celebration:
