Lilah & Mark’s Lovely Le Manoir Wedding (in spite of the rain!)

Well it’s cold outside. Flippin’ freezing. On the bright side, however, the sun is crashing in through the windows, bouncing off every surface here in the studio. Aesthetically magical but I am now surrounded by blackout blinds and monitor hoods to be able to colour correct images properly! Maybe I should just do the edits in the dark of night.

what happens when it rains?

Of course this is an exciting time of year for photographers as it’s a welcome opportunity to get some much-neglected admin and updates sorted. I’m lucky here in that I have an entire team making sure we’re up to date throughout the year but I still need to find the time to make website updates, clean up the brand and produce new portfolio books (you should see the new one that Meg has been working on – it looks stunning!) For those of you with a technical bet and sharp eyes, you may have noticed the website is now running over SSL (i.e. it’s https: rather than http:) as well as having had a bit of tidy up so it’s quicker and easier to navigate. Still more to do but it’s nice to get it done – and hopefully Google will reward us for having gone to the effort!

But it’s not just for the IT-interested that this is a lovely time to be a photographer as this is when we see a steady stream of bookings for the year ahead – particularly for wedding photography. I get to meet new people and sit and hear about their day and how it might translate into photography and then into a wedding album and I love it. We’ve had two couples this week who have asked to be their photographer and I cannot wait! Going to be beautiful!

The wedding images below are from Lilah and Mark’s stunning wedding at Le Manoir. Such a gorgeous day in spite of some fairly unpredictable weather! We are asked all the time what happens if it rains? Well, have a look below and see. It didn’t rain throughout the day but it rained enough that a) we had to resort to umbrellas and an unplanned sprint back inside and b) I got a drenching! Good job the cameras are watertight!

Rain brings other opportunities too: those broken clouds don’t happen in quite the same way on a ‘dry’ day and they make for some fantastic images, particularly at dusk!

And if you’re wondering if I wonder into every restaurant kitchen with a camera then answer is a resounding ‘no’! But Le Manoir is different and I’ve worked with this amazing team for a long time (I have photographed many of their weddings too!) so if you’d like to pop behind the scenes and say ‘hello’ it is nearly always possible!

Ah, brings back memories of the summer and gives us a taste of weddings to come!

Enjoy!
