A Marriage From Mayfair To Le Manoir

A Marriage From Mayfair To Le Manoir

What makes a wedding truly memorable? Sometimes it’s the big, elaborate production. But sometimes – just sometimes – it’s the intimacy of four people, a stolen morning in London, and the kind of weather that forces magic into existence.

This Le Manoir wedding started with a bleary-eyed train journey into the city. I’ll be honest: several coffees were required before my brain engaged properly. But the moment I arrived in Mayfair to meet Katie and Ross, I knew the early start would be worth every yawn.

What struck me immediately was that they’d chosen to get ready together – not the traditional route, but absolutely the right one for them. Why spend your wedding day apart when you could share those quiet, ordinary moments? It meant they could soak in the whole experience together, from the first nervous cup of tea right through to the end.

The day unfolded like a perfectly paced story. A ride through Mayfair in one of London’s iconic black cabs. A ceremony stripped back to its essence – just four people bearing witness. Breakfast at Tom’s Kitchen, where even the photographer got to enjoy proper Eggs Benedict. Then off to Le Manoir, where the weather had other ideas entirely.

Here’s the thing about storms at a wedding: they’re either a disaster or they’re a gift. This one turned out to be a gift. The skies darkened, the wind picked up, and suddenly the whole landscape became theatrical – moody, dramatic, alive. I’ve photographed at Le Manoir for a decade, and I’ve never – not once – seen a swan settle on that pond. But there it was, sheltering from the gales, framed against the turbulent sky. Ten years, and this weather brought something entirely new.

I absolutely loved this wedding. The intimacy of it. The refusal to follow the script. The way the elements conspired to create something unexpected and beautiful. That’s what stays with you.
